My name TAMASINE echoes the Japanese word tamashii (魂) for soul or spirit. I was born a twin but came into the world alone. In a way, my name carries us both which is really special.

I create intuitively, guided by what I experience, feel, notice and dream about. Nature is often my starting point: the movement in water, the shifting light, weathered textures, a warm and grounded palette. Painting is where I find peace, and where moments of my life settle into form.

My Danish roots and a love of Japanese aesthetics meet in my work celebrating a quiet beauty, natural materials and pure craftsmanship. The idea that something doesn’t need to be polished to be meaningful; a slightly uneven line, a raw edge, a texture that didn’t go exactly as planned. The work becomes less about an ideal and more about responding to what’s unfolding in the moment.

I believe that choosing art is about choosing a feeling to return to every day: a meaningful presence in everyday life.
