BALANCE
This year I finally understood something that I’d carried my whole life and my own name had the answer all along: in Japanese, “Tamasine” (similar to Tamashii 魂) stands for soul or spirit. I was born a twin who arrived alone and for most of my life I carried this quiet ache I couldn’t name.
Somewhere in the middle of motherhood, I lost touch with myself and this year, with the right help, I started finding my way back.
This collection is what came after; my most personal body of work. Each piece is a small act of patience: the same patience it takes to stack stones, to sit with a feeling instead of fixing it and to trust things enough to let them unfold in their own time. What looks fragile here is not weakness – it’s resilience and strength, quietly dressed as balance. Including four sculptural pieces, made together with April van Domburg speak the same language: stacked, balanced, held. Objects that move and levitate, soft and slowed like a weight being lifted.
I’m finding rhythm again – in breath, in tides, in small ordinary moments. Joy is returning, I feel calm, confident and held. I am finding the balance.
Artworks on this website are all made by hand and are one of a kind pieces. It is also possible to request custom made work in consultation with Tamasine. Send an email to talk about the possibilities: info@artbytamasine.com
